Promoting financial capability and access to financial services for all
Consumer finance research and writing
I am a writer, researcher and project management consultant specializing in community development and consumer finance.
I have worked with the Urban Institute, the UNC Center for Community Capital, the Center for Responsible Lending, and Self-Help, a community development financial institution. For a full list of my experience and publications, click below.
Building financial capability in direct-service organizations
I work with direct-service organizations including affordable housing providers, financial institutions, drug rehabilitation centers, and domestic abuse prevention providers to increase the financial capabilities and well-being of their program participants.
Embedding financial capability programs and practices into existing non-profit and social service organizations can enhance client outcomes and address client needs holistically, increasing the likely success of program participants and the ability of organizations to achieve their core missions.
The financial capability approach provides working individuals and families with the capacity to manage their financial resources effectively through building financial knowledge, providing opportunities to practice financial skills, and increasing access to financial services and resources.
